'It was all very old-fashioned and proper... two months later I was pregnant!': Kate Hudson on her romance with Matt Bellamy

Courtship: Kate Hudson says her relationship with Matt Bellamy started traditionally, even though she fell pregnant after eight weeks

Her fiance may be one of the biggest rockstars in the world, but Kate Hudson insists their relationship is far more 'old-fashioned'.
The actress recently opened up about the Muse frontman, saying that they enjoyed a traditional courtship, despite her falling pregnant after eight weeks.
She said: ‘It was all very old-fashioned and proper and we went on lovely dates, [but] two months later I was pregnant.’

Wedding bells: Kate says she and the Muse frontman will get married but they have no plans right now

Speaking to the May issue of Elle UK, Kate said ‘Well, yes [I was shocked], but I also thought: "This is going to be interesting."'
After just a short amount of time together, the prospect of a baby could have tarnished their romance, and the Hollywood startlet knew that.
She admitted: 'I knew it would take a strong man to deal with it. You know that with a relationship things can go either way when you have a child.

His Muse: Kate and Matt have been happily together for three years

'When you get pregnant everything changes; you, your body. Everything becomes a big decision, but he was there and that was that. Now it’s three wonderful years later. Things happen for a reason.'
The sound of wedding bells still seem distant for the couple, however Kate's nine-year old son Ryder - from her first marriage to The Black Crowes' Chris Robertson - is hoping they will tie the knot.
She said: 'We will get married. I do think it’s important but we have no plans. [Ryder] wants a party.

Exclusive: The full interview appears in the May issue of Elle UK

'For me it’s not the legal part that is important, it’s what it means to the family.'
Her sincerity on this topic can be understood, considering her mother Goldie Hawn and step-father Kurt Russell - Kate's biological father is singer Bill Hudson - have been together for 30 years.

• Full interview appears in the May issue of ELLE UK, on sale Wednesday 3 April 2013. Also available as a digital edition.
